FEDERATION University Australia Football Club have taken out the inaugural McDonald's AFL 9's Cup against Australian Catholic University at Eureka Stadium on Saturday. Played as a curtain raiser to the NAB Challenge Western Bulldogs vs Melbourne Football Club, both teams were hungry for success and add a new trophy to their history but it was ACU who came out firing in the first half kicking the first goal of the match.
Fed Uni FC kept coming as they worked hard to learn the new style of play and went into Half-Time a draw with ACU. The condition of the oval was in perfect condition but a strong wind had Fed Uni kicking against the it heading to the second half. It didn't effect Fed Uni as they delivered a 9-pointer in the first 10 seconds of the half and they continued to run away with the game to come out victors but 18-points.
A huge thanks goes out to AFL Goldfields, McDonald's Australia, North Ballarat Roosters, City of Ballarat, Australian Catholic University and the AFL for the opportunity for both sides to play.
